                                                                        February 26, 2010

 Note from the Coordinator’s Desk / February-March 2010

Hello Everyone,

As winter marches on, so does Welding at Central Campus. Shift 3-4 wrapped up Jan 30 and Shift 1-2 will go until March 6th.

New computer classes started Monday, February 15. We’re offering several Level I and II classes. You’ll see we’ve combined “Intro to PC” and “Intro to Internet” to create “Intro to PC/Internet”. We’re also offering “Build (and Take Home Your Own) PC.” It’s a three week class, with each class being a bit longer than the preceding one. Make note of the times. In this class, you can either “practice build” using our computer parts, or buy your own parts and build a PC of your own, to take home.

Next time around we hope to offer a “Social Networking”-type of class as well as Web Design. Web Design in an intense three-part class; four weeks at Level I, four weeks at Level II, then 4 more weeks in an instructor-led lab, where you get to work on your own web site while the instructor’s there to help.

We’ve got a new hands-on class starting mid-March in the workshop: Stained Glass! Class is six weeks long; once a week, from 6:30-8:30pm, starting on a Tuesday or Thursday. There are still a few seats remaining.

We’ve also got Interest Lists for co-ed Self Defense, Archery, and CPR. You can sign one by stopping by, calling, or emailing (stacey.icdlocal310@mchsi.com). Self Defense and Archery are in the beginning stages of planning. CPR would likely be a one-time class. You’d start and finish in one morning or afternoon. Please consider signing up for this class as it’ll benefit not only yourself, but perhaps someone else in the future.

ICD also offers on-line learning. Over 2200 courses are available. You can use ICD’s Open Lab or learn on your own computer, in the privacy of your own home, at whatever hour you wish.

Due to the extreme popularity of ICD’s Tuition Assistance program, it’s currently full or “closed” for the rest of this calendar year.

Remember, we’re here for you. What are you interested in? Let me know and I’ll see what we can do.

Contact me if you have questions about anything.

LET ICD HELP YOU REACH YOUR GOALS!

Stacey

More opportunities through ICD:

Tuition Assistance

Do you want to go back to school? Do you want to get or finish a degree or certification? Maybe you only want to take one class? Either way, see ICD for details. Call or stop by soon to plan for January.

Customized Classes

All classes other than Tuition Assistance and On-line learning are “customized”. These include all computer classes, the summer classes, and fall trades classes. What are you interested in? Let me know and I’ll see what we can do.

On-line learning

Over 2000 courses are available with TelSim. Many of them are computer-related. You can take these classes at your own pace, in your own home, or in the ICD Open Lab.
